I once lived on dimmies for 2 weeks after I spent my whole pay getting shitfaced on a thursday night, I’m clearly the most qualified person to comment on this matter and can confirm that anyone who calls them dimmos is a fuckwit, anyone who even calls them dim sims is questionable.

Chinese people say “dim sum” instead of “dim sim”, but what do they know? “Dim sum” is elitist and un-Australian.

In Melbourne they are dimmies. My guess is the ad didn’t want to give a free plug to the store “Dimmy’s”, and because of that they went with dimmos. Cat bags would have been offensive too.

Then there is the other question of ordering them as “soft” or “hard”, aka “steamed” or “fried”.
