Saw this comment from a Rudd hater on the Herald Sun web site. It was about Australia avoiding recession and recording excellent balance of payment figures for the March quarter.
Well that’s just great, we avoided a recession by putting ourselves into massive debt that will take decades to pay off. Great thinking. Talk about short sightedness.

Obviously all those billions of Rudd’s cash splash weren’t spent or our terms of trade would not have been positive. Rudd should not have blown the money but “sat on his hands and done nothing” as he kept spinning the opposition were advocating. Now we have decades of debt to look forward to paying back through higher taxes.

AR – of the 300 billion debt, 230 billion comes from decreased government revenues. Caused by the Global Financial Crisis. About 65- 70 billion comes from the stimulus packages.
In addition, 75% of the stimulus packages are being spent on infrastructure projects which will increase productivity and “pay for themselves” fairly quickly.
Very little of that infrastructure money has been spent yet.
You are a fool and an ignoramus AR. Try doing some reading and get yourself an education. In the meantime just shut the fuck up. The grownups are running the show for the foreseeable future whether you like it or not.

Bertus, I referred to Rudd’s cash splash. Not the infrastructure spending. If more of the cash had been spent, presumably on plasma TVs and the like, our terms of trade would have been worse and Rudd would not have got grin at the cameras like he’d actually achieved something.
