Face it, Osama Bin Laden is dead

Posted by clubwah on May 19, 2008

Yet another “message” by Osama Bin Laden has emerged calling on Palestinians to fight oppression in Gaza - just well as he’s a top Muslim terrorist mastermind or no one would have thought of that.

According to a story by Reuters, speaker, whose voice resembled bin Laden’s earlier recordings, said it was the religious duty of every Muslim to fight Israel’s “oppressive closure” of Gaza.

No shit!

Either Bin Laden is a big fucking chicken, someones playing a practical joke on the media or the US wants us to believe he’s still alive to justify their anti-terrorism measures and the wars in Afhganistan and Iraq.

I want to see Bin Laden make his next message on video and holding up a newspaper with a current date. Until then I will continue to believe he was vapourised in one of many massive air strikes on the Tora Bora caves - this ain’t Hollywood, bombs kill terrorist leaders too.

The ridiculous Glenn Wheatley circus

Posted by clubwah on May 19, 2008

OK, so Glenn Wheatley is a big name who is doing time for tax fraud and has been released into home detention. It’s a worthwhile story, but did it warrant reporters staked out outside the Beechworth Prison, three helicopters and a convoy of journos tailing his drive home a la OJ Simpson and another hoard of journos and photographers outside his South Yarra home?

Honestly, who gave more than a flying fuck about footage of a black BMW X5 travelling through Melbourne’s streets, apart from the fact it have given you an idea of traffic conditions. In the end the chase became bigger than the story - Nine’s today show said remarked how crazy it was having three helicopters and all these reporters even though they were part of it themselves.

Is it possible that the news chiefs of staff at carious organisations had all this in place for Tony Mokbel’s arrival but were foiled, so decided to justify their request?

Either way this was just another example of the media’s obsession with celebrity and their belief that people give a toss - yes they will watch it and buy the papers and magazines. But do they have a choice?
