Vale Colin Murdoch

I had a good idea once – alcoholic iced-confectionary, that went as far as a friend and I buying his sister an ice cream maker for her birthday so we could try out our innovation, only to find alcohol has a much lower freezing temperature than water – which pretty much fucked our plans and consigned the ice cream machine to the bottom of the kitchen cabinet next to the bread maker, waffle maker and Soda Stream.
I have never invented anything of use hence, like jugglers, I am in awe of the talents of people who invent really good useful things – not least because they managed to come up with a new idea after 150 years of industrialisation.
One such man is New Zealander Colin Murdoch, who sadly passed away at the weekend. Known mostly for inventing the disposable syringe, Mr Murdoch also patented the the tranquilliser gun (what a great trivia question), the childproof bottle cap and the silent burglar alarm died.
And us Aussies crap on about the fucking Hills hoist!
Why is this man not a more famous New Zealander than Sir Edmund Hillary and Lucy Lawless? A statue should be built in his home city of Christchurch at once!

Ok, so now there are 2 Kiwis who actually achieved anything worthwhile, Murdoch & Hillary. Name another 6.
Useless country – nice scenery though.
(PS: I’d name musicians Max Merrit and Tim & Neil Finn, Olympian John Walker and no one else. Russell Crowe? Richard Hadley? Oh pleeeease!)

PPS: Wah, you really should revisit that alcoholic iced-confectionary idea, there’s gotta be a way (maybe an injection of Carbon Dioxide to aid the freezing?) Look, the kids of today need and want that product – it’s getting harder & harder for them to buy booze.

Actually I think liquid nitrogen would work better.

Trouble is Ray I’ll try and sell them and be accused of trying to get our kids drunk and then Rudd will impose a 70% tax on them.
Shit I just thought of an idea – an ice cream, inspired by the great Colin Murdoch, where the ****************************************************************** before eating.
Holy crap I’m an inventor! I just censored that idea because it’s so fucking good and I don’t any of you lefties pinching it off me.

I think I’ve worked out your so-called “invention” Wah:
an ice cream, inspired by the great Colin Murdoch, where the wrapper contains a syringe filled with an alcoholic drink (like Vodka), which the kids inject into the ice cream just before eating.
I like the idea because after the kids have emptied the syringe of vodka into the ice cream they can use it later to inject heroin. It’s a recycling and environmemtally sustainable practice that might even win an award. Or at least a Government grant. Go for it.

Not bad Ray, with my invention the ice cream stick is the syringe.

That’s pure genius Wah. It saves trees too.

Ray is just a bloody tree-hugging hippy.

I’d add Sir William Pickering (director of NASA’s JPL), Lord Rutherford, Sir William Hamilton (made a functional jetboat), Sir Angus Tait (Mobile radio), Godfrey Bowen (more efficient shearing technique)
