Would they jump off a cliff … ?

Remember when you were a kid and you did something wrong and used the excuse that “everyone else does it” only to get a clip across the ear and questioned about whether or not you’d follow the same protagonists off a cliff?
It never worked for me as a child, but it’s become the excuse of choice for large companies justifying ways to fuck their customers up the arse even harder, while ensuring they uphold their responsibilities to shareholders.
Example 1 - Yesterday I received a letter from my bank, BankWest informing me that mortgage interest was again rising, independent of the Reserve Bank because “this is occurring throughout the Australian banking industry”.
Example 2 - Crown Casino has added a 00 slot to it’s roulette wheel to increase its chances of taking the pot. A gaming industry expert said the new wheel would increase Crown’s edge from 2.7 per cent to 5.6 per cent, effectively doubling roulette profit margins.
Crown’s excuse - many other casinos also operated the same system.
Fuck it, I’m just going to be an inconsiderate prick from now, why not, everyone else is.
